Gearbox Software increases the legendary drop rate by x3 for Borderlands 2, Borderlands the Pre-Sequel & Borderlands the Handsome Collection.
After last month’s Legendary Drop Rate survey, Gearbox wanted to find a drop rate that felt right for the players.
Over the period of April 9 till May 13 they weekly changed the drop rates of the legendary loot in Borderlands 2, Borderlands the Pre-Sequel & Borderlands the Handsome Collection.
After analyzing all this data and going over all the surveys Gearbox found a drop chance that players were comfortable with. The drop rate is more than just a number of getting a certain piece of legendary gear. A legendary weapon has to have some value. So the highest increase in that period was making the gear non-rewarding. So not too high and not too low.
The new drop rate will be made possible via a hotfix* and is already live. Later down the line, the drop rate will be hard coded with an upcoming patch.
